"They hand me their keys and say, 'Thanks, Damian. I know you'll take great care of it.' That's what keeps me going."

Damian bought Landis Automotive in 1993, after working for the original owner since 1987. With over twenty years of experience under his belt, Damian's passion for Hondas and Acuras hasn't waned. He still feels lucky as he rolls up the door each morning.

Damian's non-work hours are filled with family and community. He and his wife Stacy enjoy helping out with activities their children participate in. Jake (a Cuesta College student) and Danielle (attending a private art school on scholarship) are both art lovers, enjoying dance and music. Maybe they got that from their dad. Damian is a former touring musician who still enjoys playing guitar at home and bass in his church's worship band. Another hobby, flying, is one he always hopes to find more time for as he pursues his private pilot's license.

"I have a great life here on the Central Coast. I have an amazing family, a job that makes me friends, and a crew that feels like family. Things are how they should be."

"It's rewarding to help people get back on the road, but I work on cars because it's really my passion. Looking at something some crazy engineer put together, figuring it out, and fixing it -- that's a great feeling."

A native of the Five Cities area, John moved away to attend Universal Technical Institute (UTI). He worked in lube shops and tech shops, working on V8 engines and show cars, but his interest in Japanese cars brought him to Landis in 2004.

"It's the top place. And I love all of it. I love the fact that I get paid to work on cars."

John spends his free time pursuing as many thrills as possible. He's a member of the Arroyo Grande Rugby Club, has recently started skydiving, and spends the winter snowboarding wherever he can.

"Damian's a great person to work with. He's not really a boss, but more of a friend. He knows that you know how to do your job, so he lets you do it and just gives guidance along the way."

Greg Larson

Greg Larson

Service Technician

"Sometimes they bring us cookies. That never happened at my old job!"

Greg likes the personal interaction with customers and the supportive atmosphere at Landis Automotive. A graduate of Universal Technical Institute (UTI), Greg enjoys specializing in Honda and Acura repair. Not one to take shortcuts, Greg takes great pride in doing things right. "If you mess up, you 'fess up. But I sure work my hardest not to mess up!"

Away from the shop, Greg relaxes by playing guitar and cooking. One of his favorite pastimes is fishing, especially when accompanied by Isaac, a special little friend who turns every fishing trip into a great adventure.

An Atascadero native, Greg is glad he found a job he loves in San Luis Obispo County. "I've been here at Landis Auto since 2001 and I plan to be here a long time. You would not believe how nice everybody is. The customers are really cool, and Damian's great to work for."

Service Technician

"What do I like about working here? Everything!"

Joey is another employee who returned to the Central Coast after graduating from UTI. Hired in 2001, he credits Damian for the friendly environment and wealth of new knowledge he's found at Landis Automotive.

Originally from the Philippines, Joey moved to Los Osos with his family when he was fourteen. With his mom and siblings still nearby, he's now raising his own family in Los Osos with his wife Althea. They enjoy taking their daughter to the beach and watching her dance and swim.

Joey has great respect for his boss Damian. "I guess you could say he's my mentor. He's taught me a lot about Hondas and Acuras and how to run a business the right way."

Service Technician

"I've always been into Hondas. They're good, reliable cars and they'll run forever if you maintain them and treat them right."

Jamie's love affair with Hondas and Acuras dates back to his early teens, with an after-school job at his uncle's auto shop in Fresno. After graduating from high school, he returned to his hometown of San Luis Obispo and began working for Landis Automotive in 2009. Now he gets to work on his favorite cars every day, using mechanical skills that run in the family:
"My dad, my uncle and his dad have always been wrenching, so it was natural for me to stick with it." he says.

Away from the shop, Jamie attends Allan Hancock College and enjoys barbecuing, volleyball and hanging out with his friends in Arroyo Grande - friends who had better stay on his good side, since he's also training in Muay Thai kickboxing.

"I'm glad I got into Landis," Jaime says. "Damian's a great guy - very honest, straight up - and our customers trust him. A lot of them have been coming here for a long time."
